Exhibition – Minimi$ing Waste, Maximi$ing Profit @ The Gallery Space, De Koffie Pot
Jan 26 – Jan 28 all-day

Minimi$ing Waste, Maximi$ing Profit

An exhibition critiquing the capitalist system and its role in the collapse of the climate.

Using the ‘corporation’ as the manifestation and symbol of the capitalist system, Callum Johnstone analyses the values and priorities it places on environmental issues.

The Left Bank Village - Exhibition Minimising Waste, Maximising Profit

The work in this exhibition looks at advertising and marketing strategies and its exploitation of the natural world, it’s motif’s and it’s magnificence for economic benefit. Inclusion of this familiar imagery in advertising campaigns, depicted as idealistic and almighty, forces the viewer into the illusory sense of Utopian reality.

Preview Event – Friday 26th January 6pm – 9pm

Exhibition runs Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th 9am – 5pm

Are you lost? Is your soul knackered? Are you disillusioned with the current state of things? If you answered yes to one of these then why not come along to see Angelos and Barry in The New Power Generation?

They will identify your weaknesses, expose them in front of everyone and then cure you 100% from whatever rubbish you might have. Like therapists and Gods rolled into one. Nothing is too much for them. They will show you how they did it, and then will show you what to do! Throw away your self-help books and join The New Power Generation for a guaranteed life transformation*.

*Life transformations do occur regularly, but if it doesn’t work for you, it’s got nothing to do with them, it’s very much your fault.

No refunds.

“Their ridiculous riffs build and build until you can’t help laughing….Simple but just great.” The Guardian

A comedy match made in heaven (or a touring version of the odd couple), will send sparks flying, hold onto your zimmer frames and carrier bags as 82-year-old Barry From Watford and much younger friend Angelos Epithemiou take to the road for their, first ever, New Power Generation tour. Barry’s extensive media experience from being a regular on Steve Wright’s Radio 2 show as well as performing ventriloquism at his local club allied to Angelos’ days as a burger van impresario and sidekick to Vic ‘n’ Bob on Shooting Stars will see the crowds rolling in. Although this is their first tour together, they already work together on their popular, critically acclaimed podcast and therefore have a handle on each other’s strengths and many weaknesses, which we’re sure to learn a lot about.

So what can we expect from this dynamic duo, we asked them and they said:

Angelos: It’s actually going to be a very serious debate like Question Time. I’ll be Dimbleby and Barry will be everyone else like Russell Brand, Farage and all that lot. And we’ll discuss all the big stuff like the economy, ecology, Europe, superyachts. I don’t have a superyacht because it’s a waste of money. If I had all that cash, I’d spend it on something much more worthwhile, like an elephant or something that could fit in the garden. At the very least it could wash your car.

Barry: When we done a run-through in Watford, we came onstage with a Kung fu thing. We thought it was rather brilliant, very controlled, but then one day we thought it wasn’t really working at all. So we bought a Chinese dragon’s head for 170 quid off the internet and what we do is quite a vibrant opening using the dragon’s head. When we first wrote the show, it had a TED Talk style title but the honest truth is we’re going to be trotting out the usual rubbish and we’re now stuck with that title. There will, of course, be a number of important themes but if anyone can actually uncover them, that’s another matter.

“Comedy pals’ barmy banter is a puerile delight.” The Guardian

Skinner (Angelos) and Alex Lowe (Barry) leave their dignity at the door…  A ramshackle hour of quirky laughs.”  Evening Standard

“They are an extension of a rich comic tradition, offering a generous handful of hilarious moments in this show.” Chortle
