FARCICAL COMEDY CLUB AT THE LEFT BANK VILLAGE

Opening Act

Louis Burgess is a fire hydrant of comedy. Blapping bare mandem in the face with his unique blend of comedy, music and cashews, he can be seen up and down the country on most Wednesdays poncing about in the most disgusting of ways.

Frequently described as “Bill Bailey on Crack” and “The Russell Howard of the Grungecore Folk Scene” he aims to create a new sub-genre within the genre of genre itself.

Middle Acts

GARY POWNDLAND

Internet sensation Gary Powndland brings his unique perspective on life to the stage. Winner of the best live comedy show at the Midlands comedy awards and Wolverhampton’s favourite son, Gary is an act once seen never forgotten.

“Gary Powndland impressed. He went on to paint a delightfully odd portrait of suburban madness. The alternate world he created and his commitment to it impressed, while the character’s stubbornness and bizarreness – even the way he describes a knock at the door – yields many a laugh” – Chortle

‘Gary Powndland is a hysterical, sharply written character and he made me snort laughing.’ – Joe Lycett

“An entertaining slice of suburban absurdity of which Vic & Bob might be proud.” – Steve Bennett

Our Headline Act is Tony Law

Tony Law is a four-time Chortle Award winner, Amused Moose Best Show winner, and Fosters Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee.

“Imagine if Harry Potter was a Canadian non-wizard who writes very funny jokes with his big hands, that’s Tony Law” – Sean Lock

His extensive TV and radio credits include: Have I Got News For You (BBC One), The Alternative Comedy Experience (Comedy Central), 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4),  Celebrity Mastermind (BBC One), Celebrity Squares (ITV) Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two), Heading Out (BBC Two), The Culture Show (BBC Two), Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe (BBC Two), Edinburgh Nights (BBC Two), Tony Law’s Surreal Guide To Surreal Comedy (Radio 4 Extra), Loose Ends and Infinite Monkey Cage (Radio 4).

In 2017 his BBC Radio 4 show, Tony Law: 21st Century Adventurer premiered, and he also starred in Tony Law & Friends in the Battle for Icetopia – a comedy play on ice. In 2018 he’ll be returning to the Edinburgh Festival with a brand new show.
