Free Music Friday presents….
The John Wesley Harding Project
The ‘John Wesley Harding Project’ is one of a series of gigs performed by The Hopeless & Maria Nowhere to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Dylan’s 1968 album.
John Wesley Harding is, perhaps, one of Dylan’s lesser known albums – with the exception of the songs, All Along the Watchtower, which Hendrix popularised and I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight, which was recorded by Robert Palmer with UB40.
The original album was essentially Dylan returning to his acoustic roots, having released 3 or 4 ‘electric’ albums with The Band. The Hopeless & Maria Nowhere (a band made-up from members of four bands) have rearranged all 12 songs on the album for an electric band. The album lasts about 45 minutes. The Hopeless & Maria Nowhere will perform the album twice, with an interval between.
‘The Hopeless & Maria Nowhere’ have re-recorded the album, which will be available in CD format on the evening.
