15th May – Film Night: Iraq in Fragments
James Longley’s outstanding documentary-portrait of ordinary lives in post-invasion Iraq looks at a chaotic society from three points of view: a young orphan in a mixed area of Baghdad; a group of fanatical Shias who are egged on by a mad cleric to make vicious attacks on the mainly Christian liquor sellers; and Kurds around Arbil.
22nd May – Size of Herefordshire Film Showing

A fascinating talk from George Potter of the Social Liberal Forum on the development of Liberalism as a philosophy in Britain, including the social and historical context that drove various developments in thinking over the course of about two centuries from 1700 to 1939. June 5th – New Council – New Ways of Doing Things?
All over the world people are trying new ways of doing politics. In Taiwan, they are using new software to find agreement on how to regulate Uber. In Frome, Somerset, they have formed a council entirely made up of independents and are using Facebook to solicit ideas from the locals. Let’s talk about ideas that could work here.

June 19th – Make Votes Matter Herefordshire
Calling all PR supporters! Did you know the Make Votes Matter Herefordshire local group meets regularly to support the national campaign for electoral reform to a system of proportional representation. Please come along. On this evening, we will be planning the street stall we would like to hold in High Town on the MVM national action day. We will also hear from a local electoral reform enthusiast who will be sharing some novel ideas.
